In some traditions, there is a custom known as \u201cSt. Martin\u2019s Advent\u201d or Celtic Advent by which the season begins November 16th<\/sup> so as to be 40 days before Christmas, balancing the season of Lent, which is 40 days before Easter (not counting Sundays). It is with a view to that tradition that I offer this invocation. The basis is the old Celtic spiritual practice of invoking a blessing on daily tasks from striking a spark to light a lamp or relight the fire at the break of day to smooring the fire and laying down to sleep at night. The rest is my embroidery \u2026.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Three in One, the One in Three<\/p>\n

The Holy, Life-Giving Trinity<\/p>\n

Blessed be for eternity. Amen<\/p>\n

Praise be God; we have a light.<\/p>\n

Thanks be to God for the light that God gives \u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Creator spoke and there was light<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Come, Holy Creator, and speak into my darkness, chaos and despair<\/p>\n

Bring forth<\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Serenity and Purpose<\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Joy and Structure<\/p>\n

In my darkness, in my chaos, Holy Creator, let there be light.<\/p>\n

Jesus Christ is the light of the world<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Come, Holy Christ, and shine your light in the darkness and chaos of life in this world.<\/p>\n

Call through the cacophony and show me the way<\/p>\n

The Holy Spirit is the light within me<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Come, Holy Spirit, Light Divine, and kindle your fire within me.<\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Purge what is dross<\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Guide me and lead me in all truth<\/p>\n
